Disorder Du Jour

I had G+'ed and shared a post from this guy

https://plus.google.com/u/0/111608998445597712453/posts  +Mark Fredrick Graves, Jr.

He had posted his original post on, Religion as a mental disorder and this was my response.

Your Welcome. Fascinating idea. And I am an Atheist. I have also wondered about Religion and a Delusional state of mind given that the mind can not tell the difference between reality and thought. The conscious mind's comfort level with perceiving absolutely anything, which makes religious dogma so much easier to force feed to most people. I think you are on to something about what is a "religious brain" now, what about the flip side of the coin, what is going on with a brain that doesn't have these seizure's at all? Is it related to be agnostic, atheist, freethinkers, etc...Keep up the great work.

It seems to me that we are making headway in the realm of science showing us what we may have been thinking all this time, though, up till now [possibly now] could only throw around in the heat of the moment, in fits of anger as an insult. Id like to hear from my followers. I think we are establishing good roots into the study of, Religion as a mental disorder, but, I want to take a look at, non religion as a non disorder, so to speak. In other words, that we are mentally healthy if we are non religious.

What would you like me to say? If anything? This study potentially extends FAR beyond Religious Fundamentalism. This is not the original Article I found on this study, but this is the one I found right now to post here.

Killing in the name of...

Not quite, Rage against the machine, but still. How many people can you name, that have killed in the name of God and how many people can you name, that have killed in the name of Atheism? Fuck you, I won't do whatcha tell me...Fuck you, I won't do whatcha tell me...

Zimmermann killed in the name of... Completely Hypocritical of Religion. Also I believe this whole thing stinks and Segway into the fact that Religion is the crutch which way too many people lean on to get out of the shit they know they did. Its pleading the 5th, double Jeopardy and once its all over, admit to how large you, him, her, they FUCKED UP LARGE, and they wash their hands in holy water.

An Epiphenous Moment

In the Shower...wait a minute, isn't that where all Epiphanies happen? Eureka! In our earlier years most people go through a period of self discovery. I would think for most people its in there 20's. I am 32, now, so maybe I am apart of that group as well. Thirty-two may not be out of the question for most people either, to have self discoveries begin to happen or to fall into place.
My Epiphenous moment was just this, the realization that I was beginning to fall into place and that Atheism is one of the many aspects that is or will be who my future self will be.

How Atheist are you?

I get a sense of degrees of Atheism, I mean if there is degrees of Theism, then why not degrees of Atheism? Also as I follow blogs of Atheists and Skeptics alike, I am beginning to see that there are degrees of just about everything, and the discrimination to follow. Does it really matter if Joe Atheist down the street is as hard line as you about Science and the Universe? And Transversely? I may be becoming a pretty solid Atheist, but as far as Skepticism goes? Not so much...or the way I am Skeptical, I do ask more questions now then I have in my past, I don't dive head first into Conspiracy bullshit, I am growing used to weighing situations or even to sleep on them, let them stew and see what happens. So to add it all up, maybe as of yet, I am not so hard line as others, but you have to give me credit where it is due.

Dawkins tells it like it is...

I knew something of Dawkins going into the book, I know he's apart of "The Four Horsemen" which comprises, Hitchens, Dawkins, Dennett, and Harris1. Dawkins never slams Religion, yet, he playfully tosses it around, when pointing out facts or theories or even possible scientific models. What a breath of fresh air to see how insane Creationism is, or how old the earth is 10.000 years or something silly like that. I have felt Alive just with in the first 30+ pages of this Genius.
